Protecting Your Career and Other Legal Interests

Military law is unique, it is a self-governing legal system that contains its own rules, regulations and procedures. It important to have a lawyer who is knowledgeable about the distinctions between military and non-military legal proceedings if your career or freedom hangs in the balance of a military court proceeding.

At the Law Office of William C. Halsey, our senior attorney is a former JAG officer of the US Marine Corps. He has extensive experience providing clients in Oceanside and Camp Pendleton with meaningful results with complex military law proceedings. Contact us at 760-429-7042 or 888-881-2684 to schedule a free initial consultation and straightforward assessment of your case.

Courts Martial Defense

SoldierThe military has jurisdiction over service members who have been accused of committing crimes while in the line of duty, off-duty, and on or off military grounds. Not only are there repercussions under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) from dishonorable discharge to confinement, you can also be punished under California law if you are convicted of an offense.

The Administrative Discharge Board will likely attempt to terminate your military career if you are convicted. Receiving a dishonorable discharge can negatively impact your employability for the rest of your life. We will skillfully represent you before the Board in order to help you obtain a general or honorable discharge or otherwise mitigate the charges against you.

Representation Before the Merit Systems Protections Board

Our firm also represents civilians who work at Camp Pendleton and other military bases in matters before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB). As a civilian employee, you are entitled to a hearing before the MSPB anytime you are suspended from work for 14 days or more. The MSPB conducts disciplinary hearings in which you can receive a wide range of consequences, including:

  • Termination of employment
  • Revocation of security clearance

We will do everything within our power to protect your interests and minimize the disciplinary action you face.

Contact us to discuss your military law concerns in a free initial consultation. We will visit you at Camp Pendleton if you are unable to travel to our office located in Oceanside, California. Evening and weekend appointments are also available upon request.
